Summary of Insurance

It is important to note that travel insurance coverage doesn't cover everything and it does vary from plan to plan. Travel insurance is only intended to cover sudden, unexpected, and unforeseeable medical emergencies and coverage is subject to a number of exclusions, limitations and conditions. Single and Multi-Trip Emergency Medical Plans

Emergency Hospital & Medical Benefits
You will be covered in excess of your provincial plan for emergency hospitalization and emergency medical treatment up to $2 million if you're covered by a provincial or territorial health/medical plan, otherwise coverage is limited to $3,000.

Out-of Pocket Allowance
While you're in the hospital, other insured family members or travelling companions remaining with you will be reimbursed up to $3,000 for reasonable living expenses.

Family Transportation
Upon written recommendation of your attending physician, you will be reimbursed up to $3,000 to bring a family member or close friend to your bedside.

Return of Family Member
You will be reimbursed up to $3,000 to return one insured accompanying family member home if you have been returned to Canada by air ambulance.

Escort of Insured Children
Your policy will pay to return your children (up to age 18) home when you have been air evacuated back to Canada.

Return of Vehicle or Watercraft
If you're disabled and cannot drive the vehicle used for the journey, your policy will pay for expenses related to its return up to $3,000. If you're air evacuated, you can return to the location you were transported from.

Return of Deceased
In the event of death due to a covered injury or sickness, reimbursement of up to $10,000 is provided for the homeward carriage of your body, or up to $4,000 for the cremation or burial at the place of death.

Dental Emergencies
Benefits will be paid up to $500 for the immediate relief of acute dental pain caused by other than a blow to the face.

Air Ambulance
When assessed as medically transportable, the Company will arrange for emergency air ambulance to a hospital in Canada.

Optional Plans

Baggage
Provides up to $1,000 or $1,500 coverage (depending on the option purchased) in the event of theft or damage resulting in the loss of your baggage, personal belongings, travel documents and currency. Also covers emergency care for injury of an accompanying cat or dog up to $200 or repair or rental replace of your wheelchair up to $100. Each item, or group of related items, is covered up to $300 with a $50 deductible per claim.

Accidental Death & Disablement.
This insurance will pay up to $25,000, $100,000 or $250,000 (depending on option purchased) for accidental loss of life, limb or sight during your trip.

Air Flight Accident
In the event of an airline accident in which you experience accidental death, disablement or disappearance, up to $200,000 or $500,000 (depending on option purchased) is payable.

Trip Interruption
Trip Interruption pays up to $800, $1,500 or $2,000 (depending on option purchased) toward the cost of one-way transportation home in the event of unexpected, insured mishaps.

Rental Car Collision Damage Protection
Pays up to $50,000 for physical damage of an automobile rented from a commercial car rental agency.

Exclusions

This is a short list of common exclusions. For a complete list, read the Exclusions section in the policy booklet.

An injury or sickness or state of health where the trip is taken to get medical treatment or advice for such injury or sickness
Loss, death or injury, that is contributed to by the abuse of drugs, alcohol or any other intoxicant
An injury or sickness, or state of health which, prior to the effective date of coverage, was such as to render expected medical treatment or hospitalization
Expenses incurred as a result of pregnancy within eight weeks of the expected delivery date
Any loss as a result of an injury or sickness which required any or all of, medical consultation, prescription medication, medical treatment or hospitalization, at any time during the 180-day period immediately preceding the effective date of the policy. This exclusion applies to persons up to age 70 travelling for periods of 36 day or longer and person age 71 and over for trips of any duration.
